Our top Vacation rental tips and tricks:
Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the largest vacation home within budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite New Bern restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain offers and deals for local shops and restaurants.
Planning and picking your prefect New Bern rental:
- Select your vacation dates and spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Oceanfront Resort Atlantic Beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before reserving your rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's a specific New Bern attraction you love, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or might be applied to your invoice.
More tips for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected everything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to drive future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
