How to book the best rental home experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Summer is the most expensive season in the New Bern area. Booking your New Bern vacation rental in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, management companies supply New Bern area visitors guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose vacation week and max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. OCEAN FRONT COMPLEX WITH GREAT OCEAN VIEW has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property manager before booking the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is traveling with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
During your stay:
- Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of issues.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
