Booking the best vacation home experience:

Getting the most from your spending budget:

  • In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Summer time is high season in the New Bern area. Booking in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Some property management companies offer special rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides contain deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Select your vacation week and spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. OCEAN FRONT COMPLEX WITH GREAT OCEAN VIEW has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available online. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before reserving the home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what is right for your vacation.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .

More considerations for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • To make certain damages are not linked to your family's visit, record any problem areas during check in. E-mail the property manager immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
