Strategies to get the perfect vacation home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Atlantic Beach. Book your vacation home in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guides which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Finding the perfect vacation rental:

  • Choose a group leader, select your vacation week, and select a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. 1st Floor Unit With Ocean View, Swimming Pool, Elevators has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before booking the rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a certain New Bern attraction you are crazy about, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking

Considerations for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of difficulties.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure damages aren't linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the rental manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to propel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
