Our top New Bern rental property booking tips:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summer months are high season in the New Bern area. Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties.
- In the New Bern area, The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
How to choose and book your prefectvacation home:
- Choose a group leader, choose your dates, and choose a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Oceanfront, 1st-Floor Condo with Deck, Ocean Views, WiFi, W\/D & Shared Pool has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the host before reserving the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- During arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many difficulties.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a fantastic time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
