Our top Indian Beach vacation rental booking tips:
Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserve your rental in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.
Selecting and booking a perfectrental:
- Select vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Colony by the Sea 110 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your family.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.
- Does your family require unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Some things to know before you go:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Document any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a great vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
