Tips to get the perfect New Bern vacation home experience:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- In the New Bern area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Summer is the most expensive season in Indian Beach. To find the best value, shift your family's New Bern trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines that include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing and booking the perfectrental:
- Start by selecting your the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Colony by the Sea 110 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular New Bern beach you are enamored with, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of issues.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- To make sure no damages are attributed to your visit, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the property manager immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
