Booking the best vacation property experience:

When to reserve a New Bern rental home & When to go:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in Atlantic Beach. To book the most suitable rental for your budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular New Bern attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • In the New Bern area, The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local New Bern visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Select vacation week and max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Remodeled, 2nd-Floor, Oceanfront Condo with Ocean View & Shared Pools\/Hot Tub has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. If they are not listed, email the host before you reserve the home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • Record any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if a dispute is filed.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a wonderful time? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
