Tricks and tips to get the best rental experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • In the New Bern area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Summer months are high season in Pine Knoll Shores. Book your rental property in the Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Choosing and booking the bestrental home:

  • Start by selecting a vacation week and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Dog-Friendly Oceanfront Cottage w/Extraordinary View, Expansive Deck, & More! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the host before booking the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what is optimal for your vacation.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

More considerations for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Put the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on great reviews to propel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
