Our top New Bern vacation rental home tips and tricks:
Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To find the best value, consider changing your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- In the New Bern area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Owners sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, management companies supply New Bern area visitor guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to choose the best rental home in the New Bern area:
- Start by having your family decide on trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Dog-friendly home with ocean\/sound views and private beach path has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what bed configuration is right for your trip.
- If there's a certain New Bern destination you are enamored with, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges applied to your invoice.
More tips for your visit:
- Store the owner's information in your smartphone.
- At Check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to compel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
