Getting the best New Bern vacation home experience:

Getting the most from your rental home budget:

  • Summer months are high season in the New Bern area. To find the best value, try changing your family's New Bern vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Property managers typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for nearby tours and attractions.

Choosing the best vacation home in the New Bern area:

  • Choose vacation week and budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. 5 Star beachfront listing! Linda's Lanai West has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property owner before booking the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is best for your family.
  • If there's a particular New Bern attraction you are enamored with, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
  • To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas during arrival. message the rental manager immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to compel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
