Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
When to book & When to go:
- The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Summertime is high season in Emerald Isle. Booking your New Bern vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a great way to save on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Some hosts offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain discounts for nearby tours and attractions.
Choosing and booking the perfect New Bern rental home:
- Select dates and spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Large oceanside home w\/elevator located at the Point in Emerald Isle! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the host before you book the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- If your family is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a certain New Bern destination you are enamored with, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
More considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- Document any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your life at home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to stimulate new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
