How to book the best Emerald Isle vacation property experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Summer time is high season in the New Bern area. To get the best rental within your budget, we suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at New Bern restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have discounts for local tours and attractions.
How to choose the best rental in the New Bern area:
- Select a group leader, select your vacation week, and select a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Family Tides, Almost Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 7 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property owner before reserving the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a wonderful stay? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
