Our top New Bern rental home tips and tricks:

Cost saving strategies:

  • The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Booking your New Bern vacation rental in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Many management companies supply New Bern area visitor guides that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • To start, have your family agree to vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Hunt For The Best, Oceanfront House in Pine Knoll Shores, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible online. If not, email the property management company before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's an individual New Bern destination you are enamored with, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.

Advice for a great stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your . Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many problems.
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas during check in. message the property manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a great stay? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
