Strategies to get the perfect New Bern vacation property experience:
Find your perfect rental:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in the New Bern area. Booking your New Bern vacation home in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Filter your search:
- Choose your vacation dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Family Beach- Family Values has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before booking the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
- If there's a specific New Bern attraction you are enamored with, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
More tips for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of issues.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the host immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to propel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
