Strategies to get the perfect vacation property experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are high season in Pine Knoll Shores. To get the most suitable rental for your budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Narrow your Search:
- To start, have your group commit to the best dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Dogwood Treehouse in Pine Knoll Shores, NC has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before booking the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
Know before you go:
- Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make sure damages are not linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the property manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to inspire new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
