Our top New Bern rental booking tips and tricks:

Find your perfect rental:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in Emerald Isle. To find the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have discounts for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Make a plan and choose the best New Bern rental home:

  • Choose a group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. BREATHTAKING PANORAMIC BEACHFRONT VIEWS THAT LIVE UP TO ITS NAME . . . CLOUD 9 has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before reserving your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
  • If there's a specific New Bern destination you crave, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Advice for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, note any problem areas during check in. message the host right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to propel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
