Getting the best Pine Knoll Shores rental home experience:
Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Book your vacation in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have discounts for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Start by having your group decide on trip dates and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. "A Shore Gem" Prestigious Beacon's Reach Resort Community, Oceanfront, Pool! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the host before you book the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- Visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.
Additional considerations:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a terrific time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
