Tips and Tricks to get the perfect New Bern vacation home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- In the New Bern area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Summer time is high season in Pine Knoll Shores. Booking in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have money saving offers on nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking the perfect New Bern vacation home:
- Select vacation week and max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Four bedroom home and short walk to the beach! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or could be applied to your agreement.
- If there's a certain New Bern beach you are enamored with, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
Have a wonderful stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- To make sure that damages are not attributed to your stay, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the property manager right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peace. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to compel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
