Our top Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- June, July, and August are high season in the New Bern area. Booking your New Bern vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a good way to save on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many property management companies supply New Bern area visitor guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to choose the best vacation rental in the New Bern area:
- First, have your group agree to trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Walk to beaches from 2nd floor 2 bed 2 bath apt has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before you book the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your group.
- If there's a specific New Bern beach you long to visit, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Record any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute arises.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
