Strategies to get the best rental experience:
When to visit Atlantic Beach & When to reserve a rental home:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in the New Bern area. Book your New Bern rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Narrow your Search:
- Select a group lead, select your dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Pelican's Nest - Soundside, 5 min to beach, 2BR 1BA, Atlantic Beach has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking pages. If not, call the property management company before you book your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your trip.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a particular New Bern destination you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Add the host's phone number to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Call the rental manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
