How to get the best Atlantic Beach vacation home experience:
Sticking to a spending budget:
- Book your New Bern vacation in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The earlier you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guides which often include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose the perfect rental:
- Choose your dates and maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. The Salty Pelican in Atlantic Beach NC has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the host before reserving your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Make a record of any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on great reviews to inspire new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
