Our top Rental property booking tips and tricks:

Getting the best rental home value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the New Bern area. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is a good way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to choose and book a perfectvacation home:

  • Select your vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Oceanfront Townhouse Condominium has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you book the home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your trip.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.

Advice for a smooth stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
  • Upon arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of issues.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a great vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
