Our top Rental home tips and tricks:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • To find the best value, consider changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Often, management companies supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Make a plan and choose your prefectrental:

  • Start by choosing the best vacation week and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. 206 - Island Inn Atlantic Beach has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before reserving the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or might be applied to your invoice.

More considerations:

  • Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • During arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • At departure, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to drive new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
