Tips to get the perfect rental experience:

Find your perfect rental home:

  • Summer months are high season in Emerald Isle. To find the best value, try changing your family's New Bern vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Select a group lead, select your dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Pier Pointe 2A3, Oceanfront Condo in Emerald Isle, NC! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before reserving the home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's an individual New Bern destination you crave, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • During arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your life at home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
