Finding the best Emerald Isle vacation property experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Summertime is high season in the New Bern area. To find the best value, try shifting your family's New Bern vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property managers usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Filter your rental search:

  • Select your dates and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Village West #20, Oceanside Townhouse in Emerald Isle, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before you book the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Add the property manager's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. text the host right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of issues.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
  • Upon check-out, take a walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to inspire more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
