Tricks and tips to get the best New Bern rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are high season in New Bern. To find the best vacation home within your budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local New Bern area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have discounts for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to choose the perfect rental in New Bern:
- Choose your vacation week and budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. The Bearplex of New Bern featuring king-size bed has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before reserving the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's a specific New Bern destination you simply love, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make sure damages aren't attributed to your stay, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the rental manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
