Tips to get the perfect New Bern vacation property experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in New Bern. To find the best rental for your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular New Bern attractions.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many property management companies supply New Bern area visitors guides which will include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. The Bearplex of New Bern featuring king-size bed has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible online. If not, email or call the property management company before you reserve your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- Does your family require unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the host's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- At Check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
