Our top New Bern rental home tips:
Sticking to a spending budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the New Bern area. To get the largest rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular New Bern attractions and restaurants.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to pick the best vacation rental in the New Bern area:
- Start by having your family agree to a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Lovely 1 BR with King bed Apt 2 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your group.
- If there's a specific New Bern beach you are crazy about, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your stay, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the rental manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific resource to find the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
