Our top Emerald Isle rental property booking tips and tricks:

When to book & When to go:

  • Reserve your New Bern vacation home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some owners offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have discounts for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Choosing the perfect rental:

  • Start by having your group agree to date ranges and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Pebble Beach H-103, Oceanside Condo in Emerald Isle, NC! has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, email the host before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your . Put the host's information in your smartphone.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, note any problem areas during check in. message the rental manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of difficulties.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
  • Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
