Tips to get the very best New Bern vacation home experience:
Sticking to your rental home budget:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies supply New Bern area travel guides which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Narrow your Search:
- First, have your family select the best dates and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Oceanfront Condo-Sleeps 4-Newly Renovated has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before booking the rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
Know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Note any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
