Our top Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
Money saving strategies:
- Summer time is high season in the New Bern area. To find the most suitable rental home within budget, we highly recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular New Bern attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Start by choosing a vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Spacious 1BR 1BA with Full Kitchen and Living Room - 3 min walk to the beach has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before you reserve your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what bed configuration is best for your trip.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
During your stay:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- To make certain that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. text the rental manager right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible source for finding the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a excellent vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
