Booking the best Beaufort rental home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in Beaufort. To get the best value, shift your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property managers typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Often, management companies supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to select the best vacation home:

  • Begin by choosing a vacation week and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration you need. Why Knot Getaway…Rooftop with WaterView! Unit F has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available online. If not, email the property manager before you book the rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to drive more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
