Our top Vacation rental tips and tricks:

Getting the most from your rental home budget:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Select a group lead, choose your dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Heart of Historic Beaufort - 129 Craven Street\n300 feet from Beaufort Waterfront has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property management company before you reserve your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
  • If there's a particular New Bern destination you love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

More tips for your visit:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of issues.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • To make sure damages are not linked to your visit, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the property manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your life at home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a terrific time? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
