Rental home tips and tricks:

Getting the best rental home value:

  • Summertime is high season in the New Bern area. To find the largest rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property management companies offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Often, property management companies supply New Bern area travel guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Filter your search:

  • Choose dates and budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Soundfront Complex, pool, steps from beach! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before booking the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If there's a certain New Bern attraction you long to visit, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few difficulties.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to propel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
