Tips to get the perfect New Bern rental experience:

Getting the most from your rental budget:

  • To book the largest rental within budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at New Bern restaurants, beaches, and activities.
  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Planning, selecting, and booking your prefectvacation home:

  • Choose dates and max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. The Oasis.3BR Entire unit with Private Yard has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before you book the rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or may be applied to your agreement.

More tips for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • Record any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
