Tricks and tips for getting the perfect vacation rental experience:
Finding the best rental home value:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in Indian Beach. Booking in Fall or Spring months is a great way to save on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select vacation week and budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Beach Front Condo With Wonderful Ocean View has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible online. If they are not listed, email the property management company before you reserve the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or might be applied to your contract.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the owner's information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of concerns.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- Record any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if a dispute arises.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a great stay? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
