Tips and Tricks to get the best Pine Knoll Shores rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking in Fall or Spring months is an excellent way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Some property managers offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, management companies supply New Bern area travel guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Finding the perfect rental home in the New Bern area:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Suncatcher, Almost Oceanfront House in Pine Knoll Shores, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Does your group require unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
More considerations for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's visit, note any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the property manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
