Tips to get the best Atlantic Beach rental experience:

Find your best deal:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is a great way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites often offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning, picking, and booking your prefectvacation home:

  • Select dates and spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Southwinds C14 Located in an Oceanfront Complex with Ocean Views has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the host before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Does your group require special amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

More tips for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your . Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many issues.
  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
  • Document any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to stimulate more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
