Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect New Bern rental experience:
Find your perfect rental home:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- June, July, and August are high season in the New Bern area. Reserve your New Bern rental property in Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many rental management companies supply New Bern area visitor guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to pick the best rental home:
- Select your dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Charming 3-bedroom house located in the heart of downtown Salter Path has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the host before you reserve the rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
- If there's a certain New Bern destination you are crazy about, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
Some things to know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental while you're away. Protect your property!
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, note any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the property manager right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to compel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
