Booking the best vacation rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the New Bern area. To get the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local New Bern area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have coupons for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

How to select the perfect rental in the New Bern area:

  • Begin by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Beach Bunngalo-Oceanfront Condo in the heart of Atlantic Beach has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available online. If not, reach out to the host before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your vacation family.
  • If there's an individual New Bern beach you simply love, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or applied to your agreement.

Additional considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a excellent vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
