New Bern rental property booking tips and tricks:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the New Bern area. To get the largest rental within your budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many property management companies supply New Bern area travel guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Make a plan and pick the bestvacation home:
- To start, have your group decide on dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Fantastic Oceanfront 4bd/2ba. 3 night min Spring/Fall and 10%-15% Discounts! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking pages. If not, email the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is right for your vacation.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
Tips for a great stay:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
- To make sure that no damages are linked to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. text the property manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
