Our top Vacation rental home tips:

Getting the best value:

  • In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Book your New Bern vacation home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local New Bern visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select a group lead, choose your dates, and select a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Oceanfront, 3rd-floor condo with porch, pools, tennis, pickleball & gym has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the host before you book the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a certain New Bern destination you long to visit, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

Advice for a great stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • To make sure no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. text the host right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to drive new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
