Booking the best New Bern vacation property experience:
Sticking to your spending plan:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season in the New Bern area. To find the best rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies supply New Bern area travel guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Start by selecting a vacation week and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Ocean-front residence with unparalleled views has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking pages. If not, email the host before reserving the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
More considerations:
- Store the owner's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many concerns.
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- During check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be respectful. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a great time? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
