Tips and Tricks to get the perfect New Bern rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the New Bern area. Reserve your New Bern vacation home in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Often, management companies supply New Bern area travel guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Make a plan and pick your prefect New Bern rental home:
- Choose a group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. 2nd Row Ocean Side NO PRICE INCREASES THIS YEAR! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property owner before booking your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- If your family is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of problems.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental while you're out. Keep your property safe!
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
