Strategies to get the best Emerald Isle vacation rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Summertime is high season in Emerald Isle. To find the best value, consider shifting your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, management companies supply New Bern area travel guides which include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Make a plan and choose the perfectrental home:
- Begin by selecting your the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Central Emerald Isle, Private Beach Parking has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible online. If not, contact the property management company before you reserve your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is suitable for your group.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges applied to your agreement.
Some things to know before you go:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your . Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
