Tips to get the perfect rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To find the best value, consider changing your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain coupons for local tours and attractions.
How to choose and book the bestvacation home:
- Start by choosing vacation dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Boardwalk, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking pages. If not, email or call the property manager before you book the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Does your family require special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Some things to know before you go:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
- During check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
