New Bern rental booking tips and tricks:

Sticking to your budget:

  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in Emerald Isle. To book the best rental home within your budget, we recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular New Bern attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property managers often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have discounts for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Planning, picking, and booking a perfect New Bern rental home:

  • Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Cardinal's Landing, Almost Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 6 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the host before booking the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
  • If there's an individual New Bern attraction you are crazy about, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the host's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
  • Document any damages to the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a excellent time? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
