Tips and Tricks to get the very best rental experience:
Sticking to your rental home budget:
- In the New Bern area, The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Booking in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides have discounts for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Planning, picking, and booking the perfect New Bern rental:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Moonlight Suite 196* has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. If not, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what is suitable for your vacation.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs applied to your contract.
- If there's a specific New Bern beach you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
During your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
- During arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific resource to find the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to drive future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
