Finding the best rental home experience:
When to book a New Bern rental & When to go:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. Book your New Bern vacation in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, rental management companies supply New Bern area travel guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Selecting and booking your prefectrental home:
- Select your vacation dates and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Moonlight Suite 196* has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking pages. If not, contact the property manager before you reserve the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- If your group is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Know before you go:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Note any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
