Our top Vacation rental booking tips:
When to book & When to go:
- June, July, and August are high season in the New Bern area. Book your New Bern rental home in Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Make a plan and pick the best New Bern rental home:
- Choose a group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Just a short walk to the beach! Private pool, elevator & more! has 5 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before reserving the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what is right for your family.
- If there's a particular New Bern attraction you simply love, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges may be applied to your contract.
More tips for your visit:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Make a record of any damages to the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few problems.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a excellent stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
