Tricks and tips for getting the best Emerald Isle vacation rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • In the New Bern area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • To get the largest rental home within budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at New Bern restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guides which often include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to pick the perfect vacation home in Emerald Isle:

  • Choose your dates and maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Triquetra (Sea, Sky, Land), Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking websites. If not, email the property owner before booking your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental

More tips for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the property manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to compel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
