How to get the best Emerald Isle vacation home experience:
Getting the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are high season in the New Bern area. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting and booking the best New Bern vacation home:
- Select a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and select a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. OCEANFRONT ---Great Summer Rates--- Pet Friendly has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible online. If not, email or call the property owner before reserving the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is best for your vacation family.
- If there's a particular New Bern attraction you are crazy about, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- At Check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
