Vacation rental home tips:

Sticking to your rental budget:

  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Book your New Bern vacation in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Many rental management companies supply New Bern area visitors guides that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning, picking, and booking the right New Bern vacation home:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. OCEANFRONT Cottage with Covered Deck, Pet Friendly has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property manager before booking the property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what is suitable for your vacation group.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .

More considerations:

  • Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Upon check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a terrific vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
