Tips for getting the best Emerald Isle vacation home experience:

Get the best rental home value:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guides that include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Make a plan and choose the perfect New Bern vacation home:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. OCEANFRONT Cottage with Covered Deck, Pet Friendly has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible online. If not, reach out to the property owner before booking your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation.
  • If there's an individual New Bern destination you long to visit, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or may be applied to your invoice.

Tips for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • At Check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • At departure, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to compel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
