Tips to get the best vacation home experience:

When to visit & When to reserve a Emerald Isle rental home:

  • In the New Bern area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the New Bern area. Booking in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Many property management companies supply New Bern area visitor guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • To start, have your group agree to dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Hear and See the Sound of the Sea has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible online. If they are not listed, contact the host before you reserve your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
  • Are you looking for specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

Know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
  • To make certain that damages are not attributed to your stay, note any problem areas during check in. Speak to the rental manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a terrific stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
